Depression Statistics

Although i have not taken any statistic classes, or any classes on depression or any psychology classes in general, but i do know some stuff about depression, so let us get started.

Depression is a mental illness that affects people all over the world. Any gender, race, age, weight, etc. It can affect anyone anywhere. This mental illness affects a lot of people everywhere.

  • depression affects approximately 14.8 million American adults which is about 6.7 percent of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a year.
  • The average age for depression is about 32 years old.
  • Depression is more common in women than men.
  • One in 33 children have clinical depression.
  • People with depression are 4 times more likely to have a heart attack.
  • Women are more likely to have depression than men are.

Depression is also common in people who have illnesses as well (Hotline).
